Beloved in Christ,

With profound gratitude to Almighty God, the Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America and the Diaspora extends heartfelt greetings to the clergy and faithful in the United States, South America, Australia, Western Europe, and Ukraine on the 34th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.

This day is a sacred occasion of remembrance, thanksgiving, and renewed hope. We glorify God for the divine gift of freedom granted to our ancestral homeland, and we give thanks for the perseverance and spiritual courage of the Ukrainian people - past and present - who have carried the torch of faith and nationhood through trials, persecutions, and wars.

The independence of Ukraine is not merely a political milestone; it is the fruit of centuries of suffering and sacrifice. From the baptism of Kyivan Rus’ by Saint Volodymyr the Great in 988, the Ukrainian Christian identity has been rooted in the eternal truth of the Gospel. Through centuries of foreign domination and attempts to erase both language and faith, this identity endured - firm, prayerful, and unbroken.

Waves of Ukrainian emigration brought this sacred inheritance to new lands. Our ancestors built churches not as memorials of the past, but as spiritual homes for generations yet to come. From the golden domes of Kyiv to the towns of the American Midwest, from the mountains of South America to the suburbs of Western Europe, the Ukrainian Orthodox faithful have remained united in Christ, upholding the mission of the Church and bearing witness to the truth of the Resurrection.

Today, this witness takes on renewed meaning. As Ukraine suffers under the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation, we are reminded again that freedom must be protected - not only by force of arms, but by the strength of spirit, by moral clarity, and by prayer.

We lift up our voices in intercession for the men and women of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who sacrifice to protect their homeland and the God-given dignity of human life. We pray for the innocent—those wounded, displaced, orphaned, and grieving. And we offer heartfelt gratitude to the many nations, churches, and individuals who have embraced Ukrainian refugees and provided shelter, hope, and solidarity.

In this solemn and sacred time, we issue an earnest invitation to all clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA and Diaspora, and to all people of goodwill: Join us in a global prayer for Ukraine on August 24, 2025.

On the anniversary of independence, the Church in Ukraine will raise prayers across the land. Let us unite our hearts and voices with theirs - from churches and chapels, homes and monasteries, across every continent - pleading with the Lord for:

• The healing of wounded bodies and broken hearts
• The return of refugees to their homes
• The restoration of peace with justice and truth
• The renewal of Ukraine in righteousness and divine strength

Let us not merely commemorate, but live our mission - as Orthodox Christians, as Ukrainians, as children of God - called to be peacemakers, bearers of light, and guardians of memory. May our prayers become a stream of grace flowing into every wounded village, every grieving heart, and every soul longing for hope.

Ukraine shall live - by faith, by truth, and by sacrificial love!

З глибокою вдячністю Всемогутньому Богу, Собор Єпископів Української Православної Церкви США та Діаспори щиро вітає духовенство та вірян у Сполучених Штатах, Південній Америці, Австралії, Західній Європі та Україні з 34-ю річницею Незалежності України.

Цей день є священною нагодою для спогаду, подяки та оновленої надії. Ми прославляємо Бога за божественний дар свободи, дарований нашій Батьківщині, і дякуємо за витривалість та духовну мужність українського народу – минулого і сучасного – який ніс вогонь віри і народності через випробування, переслідування і війни.

Незалежність України – це не просто політична віха, це плід століть страждань і жертв. З часу хрещення Київської Русі святим Володимиром Великим у 988 році українська християнська ідентичність була вкорінена у вічній істині Євангелія. Протягом століть іноземного панування та спроб знищити мову і віру ця ідентичність залишалася непохитною, молитовною і незламною.

Хвилі української еміграції принесли цю священну спадщину на нові землі. Наші предки будували церкви не як пам'ятники минулого, а як духовні домівки для майбутніх поколінь. Від золотих куполів Києва до міст американського Середнього Заходу, від гір Південної Америки до передмість Західної Європи, українські православні віряни залишалися єдиними у Христі, підтримуючи місію Церкви і свідчачи про істину Воскресіння.

Сьогодні це свідчення набуває нового значення. У часі страждання України від жорстокої агресії Російської Федерації, ми знову нагадуємо собі, що свободу потрібно захищати не тільки силою зброї, а й силою духу, моральною ясністю та молитвою.

Ми підносимо свої голоси в молитві за чоловіків і жінок Збройних сил України, які жертвують собою, щоб захистити свою Батьківщину і дану Богом гідність людського життя. Ми молимося за невинних - поранених, переселенців, сиріт та всіх, хто страждає. Ми висловлюємо щиру вдячність багатьом країнам, церквам і окремим особам, які прийняли українських біженців і надали їм притулок, надію і солідарність.

У цей урочистий і священний час ми щиро закликаємо всіх священників і вірних Української Православної Церкви США та Діаспори, а також усіх людей доброї волі: приєднюйтесь до нас у загальній молитві за Україну 24 серпня 2025 року.

У річницю незалежності Церква в Україні піднесе молитви по всій країні. Давайте об'єднаємо наші серця і голоси з їхніми - з церков і каплиць, будинків і монастирів, з усіх континентів - благаючи Господа про:

• Зцілення поранених тіл і розбитих сердець
• Повернення біженців до своїх домівок
• Відновлення миру з справедливістю і правдою
• Оновлення України в праведності і божественній силі

Давайте не просто вшановувати пам'ять, а жити нашою місією – як православні християни, як українці, як діти Божі, покликані бути миротворцями, носіями світла і хранителями пам'яті. Нехай наші молитви стануть потоком благодаті, що тече в кожне поранене село, кожне скорботне серце і кожну душу, яка прагне надії.

Україна буде жити – вірою, правдою і жертовною любов'ю!
