In the midst of the profound suffering caused by war, when millions of people have been forced to leave their homes and begin life anew in unfamiliar places, the light of Christian compassion continues to shine. One such light is the humanitarian Hub “Good Morning, We Are from Mariupol,” which now marks four years of tireless service to those displaced by the war in Ukraine.

What began as a humble initiative of compassion has grown into a remarkable ministry of mercy. During these four years, through official registration alone, the Hub has provided assistance to more than 2,100,000 internally displaced people. Yet this number reflects only a portion of the true impact. In the first chaotic months of the full-scale invasion in 2022, when Mariupol endured unimaginable destruction and thousands of families fled in desperation, volunteers worked day and night without the ability to keep official records. In reality, the number of people who have received assistance through the Hub is far greater.

The story of this ministry is deeply inspiring. The Hub was born through the dedication of volunteers who themselves experienced forced displacement. These were individuals who lost homes, neighborhoods, and livelihoods - but did not lose their faith, dignity, or the strength to help others. Out of their own suffering emerged a mission of compassion that continues to grow.

What began with the distribution of food packages and hygiene supplies gradually developed into large-scale humanitarian programs responding to the ever-growing needs of displaced families. Today the Hub serves children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and those wounded by the tragedy of war. For countless individuals who arrive with uncertainty and fear, the Hub has become a place where dignity, compassion, and hope are restored.

From the earliest days of this initiative, the ministry was strengthened by the heartfelt support of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. Recognizing the urgency of helping displaced families, His Beatitude became one of the first spiritual leaders to bless and support this initiative. His compassionate heart and pastoral leadership have inspired many to participate in acts of mercy toward those suffering from the consequences of war.

Equally meaningful has been the unwavering support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America. Special gratitude is expressed to His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, who has faithfully represented the clergy and faithful of the UOC of the USA in supporting humanitarian efforts for Ukraine. Through the generosity of Orthodox faithful throughout the United States, assistance has been directed especially to children with disabilities, the wounded, and families facing extraordinary hardship.

The humanitarian mission has also been strengthened through the work of the Eleos-Ukraine team, whose dedication and cooperation with international donors have allowed dozens of humanitarian projects to become a reality. Each initiative has brought real and tangible help to thousands of families struggling to rebuild their lives.

At this significant moment, marking four years of ministry, the leadership of the Hub expressed profound gratitude to the Church for its spiritual and humanitarian support. In particular, words of heartfelt appreciation were offered to His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, who extended his archpastoral blessing for the continuation of this humanitarian cooperation. With his blessing, the charitable outreach of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States continues to bring aid and comfort to the suffering people of Ukraine.

Reflecting on this milestone, Archbishop Daniel expressed deep gratitude to the clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA for their compassion and generosity:

“With heartfelt gratitude, I thank the clergy and faithful of our beloved Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America whose sacrificial generosity continues to bring hope to those who suffer. Through your prayers, donations, and acts of love, humanitarian assistance reaches the most vulnerable - children, the wounded, the displaced, and the elderly. With the archpastoral blessing of our beloved Primate, His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, we remain committed to standing beside the people of Ukraine during this time of trial. I humbly invite all who are able to continue supporting this sacred ministry of mercy so that hope may continue to reach those who need it most.”

Special gratitude is also extended to every friend, partner, and indomitable volunteer who works day and night to bring relief and encouragement to those in need. Their dedication embodies the Gospel commandment spoken by Christ Himself: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.” (Matthew 25:40)

The work, however, is far from finished. Millions of Ukrainians remain displaced. Families continue to struggle with loss, uncertainty, and the daily consequences of war. The wounded require medical care and rehabilitation. Children need protection, education, and hope for the future.

For this reason, the mission continues.

The Hub “Good Morning, We Are from Mariupol” remains committed to standing with those who suffer. With the blessing of the Church and the support of compassionate people around the world, this ministry will continue to serve those in need.

We continue to work! We continue to serve! We continue to stand beside the people of Ukraine!

And together, with faith in God and love for one another, we will continue to prove that mercy is stronger than destruction and hope is stronger than war.

Чотири роки милосердя і надії: гуманітарний Хаб «Доброго ранку, ми з Маріуполя»

Серед глибоких страждань, спричинених війною, коли мільйони людей були змушені залишити свої домівки і розпочати життя наново в незнайомих місцях, світло християнського співчуття продовжує сяяти. Одним із таких світлих осередків є гуманітарний Хаб «Доброго ранку, ми з Маріуполя», який відзначає чотири роки невтомного служіння людям, переміщеним через війну в Україні.

Те, що розпочалося як скромна ініціатива милосердя, перетворилося на надзвичайне служіння любові до ближнього. За ці чотири роки лише за офіційною реєстрацією Хаб надав допомогу понад 2,100.000 внутрішньо переміщеним особам. Однак ця цифра відображає лише частину справжнього масштабу допомоги. У перші хаотичні місяці повномасштабного вторгнення 2022 року, коли Маріуполь переживав неймовірні руйнування, а тисячі родин рятувалися втечею, волонтери працювали день і ніч, не маючи можливості вести облік. Насправді кількість людей, які отримали допомогу через Хаб, значно більша.

Історія цього служіння є глибоко зворушливою. Хаб народився завдяки волонтерам, які самі пережили вимушене переселення. Це люди, які втратили свої домівки, квартали та засоби до існування, але не втратили віри, гідності та сили допомагати іншим. Із власного болю вони народили місію співчуття, яка продовжує зростати.

Те, що починалося з роздачі продуктових наборів і засобів гігієни, поступово переросло у масштабні гуманітарні програми, які відповідають на дедалі більші потреби переміщених родин. Сьогодні Хаб служить дітям, людям похилого віку, людям з інвалідністю та тим, хто був поранений унаслідок трагедії війни. Для багатьох людей, які приходять сюди з тривогою і невизначеністю, Хаб став місцем, де відновлюються гідність, співчуття і надія.

Від самого початку ця ініціатива отримала підтримку Предстоятеля Православної Церкви України - Блаженнішого Митрополита Київського і всієї України Епіфанія. Усвідомлюючи нагальність допомоги переміщеним родинам, Блаженніший одним із перших благословив і підтримав цю ініціативу. Його співчутливе серце та пастирське служіння надихнули багатьох долучитися до справ милосердя для тих, хто постраждав від війни.

Не менш важливою є і постійна підтримка Української Православної Церкви Сполучених Штатів Америки. Особливі слова подяки висловлюються Високопреосвященнішому Архієпископу Даниїлу (Зелінському), який представляє духовенство і вірних УПЦ США у підтримці гуманітарних ініціатив для України. Завдяки щедрості православних вірних у Сполучених Штатах допомога спрямовується передусім дітям з інвалідністю, пораненим та родинам, які переживають особливі труднощі.

Гуманітарну місію також значно посилює діяльність команди Eleos-Ukraine, чия відданість та співпраця з міжнародними донорами дозволили реалізувати десятки гуманітарних проєктів. Кожна така ініціатива стала реальною допомогою для тисяч родин, які намагаються відновити своє життя серед руйнувань війни.

У цей важливий момент - відзначаючи чотири роки служіння - керівництво Хабу висловлює глибоку вдячність Церкві за її духовну та гуманітарну підтримку. Особливі слова подяки адресовані Блаженнішому Митрополиту Антонію, Предстоятелю Української Православної Церкви США, який надав своє архіпастирське благословення на продовження цієї гуманітарної співпраці. З його благословення благодійна допомога Української Православної Церкви США продовжує надходити до стражденного народу України.

Розмірковуючи над цим важливим ювілеєм, Архієпископ Даниїл висловив щиру вдячність духовенству та вірним Української Православної Церкви США за їхнє співчуття та щедрість:

«Від щирого серця дякую духовенству та вірним нашої дорогої Української Православної Церкви Сполучених Штатів Америки, чиє жертовне милосердя продовжує приносити надію тим, хто страждає. Завдяки вашим молитвам, пожертвам і проявам любові гуманітарна допомога доходить до найбільш уразливих - дітей, поранених, переселенців та людей похилого віку. З архіпастирським благословенням нашого Предстоятеля, Блаженнішого Митрополита Антонія, ми залишаємося відданими служінню народу України у цей час випробувань. Смиренно закликаю всіх, хто має можливість, і надалі підтримувати це святе служіння милосердя, щоб надія продовжувала доходити до тих, хто найбільше її потребує.»

Особлива подяка також висловлюється кожному другові, партнеру та незламним волонтерам, які день і ніч працюють, щоб принести полегшення і підтримку тим, хто потребує допомоги. Їхнє служіння є живим виконанням євангельських слів Христа: «Усе, що ви зробили одному з цих братів Моїх менших - Мені зробили.» (Мт. 25:40)

Однак ця праця ще далека від завершення. Мільйони українців залишаються переміщеними. Родини продовжують боротися з втратами, невизначеністю та щоденними наслідками війни. Поранені потребують лікування та реабілітації. Діти потребують захисту, освіти і надії на майбутнє.

Саме тому місія триває.

Хаб «Доброго ранку, ми з Маріуполя» і надалі стоятиме поруч із тими, хто страждає. З благословення Церкви та завдяки підтримці людей доброї волі по всьому світу це служіння продовжуватиме допомагати тим, хто потребує.

Ми продовжуємо працювати! Ми продовжуємо служити! Ми продовжуємо бути поруч із народом України!

І разом - з вірою в Бога і любов’ю до ближнього - ми доведемо, що милосердя сильніше за руйнування, а надія сильніша за війну.
